Bob

 

Bob Thawley is one of several research assistants specializing in outreach and recruitment. He conducts Hep C / HIV test counseling and risk reduction sessions with and for young PWID as well as administrates quantitative interviews for the UFO studies. His commitment to the harm reduction movement began in 1990 when he started as a volunteer in San Francisco’s early Prevention Point needle exchange. Bob now has over twenty-five years of dedicated experience in the fields of harm reduction, substance use and mental health treatment, HIV–treatment support and research. He has worked in community mental health treatment facilities, for collectively-run homeless outreach and other prevention organizations, as well as for UCSF prevention and treatment research studies in various capacities during that time.
